Model Context Protocol

Bring your Aqtos workspace into the conversation.

Connect AI assistants to Aqtos through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Give your assistant a connection to your workspace and use natural language to work with the tools your instance makes available.

Remote MCP serverOAuth authentication

Your MCP server URL

Each Aqtos instance has its own endpoint. Replace {instancename} with the subdomain you use to sign in to Aqtos.

Server URL HTTPS
https://{instancename}.aqtos.io/api/mcp/

Use the full address, including /api/mcp/ and the trailing slash. This is a server endpoint to add in your AI client.

For manual setup, use a client that supports remote MCP servers and OAuth. Availability depends on your client and its workspace settings.

Set up your AI tool

Follow your tool’s official guide, use your Aqtos MCP server URL, and complete OAuth sign-in. Custom MCP setup is separate from the directory plugin and connector statuses above.

  • Claude

    Web & desktop

Add a custom connector in Customize → Connectors. Enter your instance URL and follow the sign-in flow. Team workspaces may need an owner to add it first.

Menu names and access can vary by plan, version and workspace policy. “GitHub Copilot” here means Copilot in VS Code; “Copilot Studio” is Microsoft’s agent builder. If a client asks for OAuth settings it cannot discover, contact the Aqtos team.

Connect to Aqtos

You’ll need an Aqtos account with access to your instance and an AI client that supports remote MCP connections with OAuth.

  1. Add a remote MCP server

Open your AI client’s integrations or MCP settings and add a server. Give it a recognizable name, such as Aqtos.

  2. Paste your instance URL

Use the full endpoint from Your MCP server URL. Choose a remote HTTP connection if your client asks for a connection type.

  3. Authenticate with OAuth

Select OAuth if prompted, then start the connection. Follow the sign-in flow, use the Aqtos account for that instance, and review the permissions before authorizing access.

  4. Return to your assistant

Finish the connection in your AI client and check that it can discover the available Aqtos tools. Try the prompt below.

Try asking

“What Aqtos tools are available in this workspace?”

Authentication & access

Aqtos MCP uses OAuth. Complete the sign-in and authorization flow in your browser; you do not need to paste your Aqtos password or an API key into a chat.

Review the access you grant

Check the account, instance and requested permissions in the authorization screen. Ask your administrator if you’re unsure which access to approve.

  • Connect each instance separately. Use its own URL and an account with access to that instance.
  • Let your client handle the OAuth flow. If it requires a client ID, secret or scopes that it cannot discover, ask the Aqtos team for the settings for your instance.
  • Reconnect when needed. If authorization expires or is revoked, run the sign-in flow again from your client.
  • Disconnect when you’re done. Remove the connection in your AI client. To revoke any remaining authorization, ask your instance administrator or the Aqtos team.

Working with available tools

Your assistant discovers the tools exposed by your Aqtos instance after connecting. Available actions depend on that instance and the access granted to your connection.

Start by asking what the connection can do. Then ask the assistant to use a listed tool for your task. Before making changes, ask it to show the proposed action and wait for your confirmation.

Troubleshooting

The server won’t connect

Check your instance name and the complete https://{instancename}.aqtos.io/api/mcp/ URL. Confirm that your client supports remote MCP with OAuth and that custom connections are allowed in its workspace settings.

The sign-in window doesn’t open

Allow the browser window to open, then retry the connection. If your client never offers an OAuth sign-in, check its documentation for remote MCP authentication support.

I see “unauthorized” or “access denied”

Reconnect and sign in with an account that can access the selected Aqtos instance. If access is still denied, ask your administrator to check the permissions available to your account and connection.

I’m connected, but a tool is missing

Refresh the connection or tool list in your AI client. If the tool is still missing, ask the Aqtos team whether your instance exposes that capability through MCP.

Can I install the Claude or ChatGPT plugin?

The official Claude plugin is available in the directory. The official ChatGPT plugin is pending. For a custom MCP connection, follow the setup guide for your AI tool.
